Do you know what offal is? It’s garbage, throw-aways from butchered meat – brains, intestines and livers. Smart survivalists have turned offal into delicacies like fois gras, pate and sweetbreads and the African American delicacy, chitlins. Shauna has made a small fortune on throw-aways and it has become a metaphor for her life. |
|
Shauna is an African American woman who by the age of 50; had founded and managed three successful businesses, profited from smart real estate investments, helped many people get off of public assistance and raised a beautiful daughter, all on her own. Shauna was inducted into the Smithsonian Institute for her work in slave heritage preservation. While she is a very successful business woman, it is her personal life that makes this book a page turner. Shauna’s restaurant was taken away from her because it was accidentally placed in an area planned for redevelopment in the State of Maryland. Two other African Americans had their Church’s Chicken restaurant Franchise taken away from them in the State of Maryland. Coincidence?? Are there more?? |
